DISCIPLES IN MISSION PARISH LEADERSHIP TRAINING
Members of the Disciples in Mission parish leadership teams will begin
meeting to
plan for year two. Ninety-two parishes,
the Catholic Deaf Ministry and the Multnomah
County Prison Ministry participated in
Disciples in Mission during year one. The
leadership teams of each of these parishes
and ministries will gather in regional
meetings throughout the Archdiocese to
discuss the needs of parishes in this next stage
of planning.
The parish leadership team members help coordinate and organize all aspects
of
Disciples in Mission in the local parish,
from the prayer campaign to communications
and providing information, from organizing
the small faith sharing groups to seeing that
the process is inclusive for all parishioners.
The challenge for year two of the process is
to build upon the success of the first
year, to increase participation and to begin
outreach to the wider community.
Last year parishes recruited small group leaders to lead the faith sharing
groups,
which met in the Lenten season. Over 1,380
parishioners served as group leaders and
more that 11,250 parishioners participated
in the faith sharing groups. In addition to
the adult groups there were additional
groups for teens. Approximately 3,000 families
received the Disciples in Mission family
activity book for home use.
Parish leadership training
sessions will be held 8:00 am - 3:30 pm:
