QUESTIONS:
1. The Lord sees beyond human sight.
What are some of the messages our culture gives concerning appearances?
How do these messages keep us separate from rather than in relationship
with each other? In what ways do they influence our values?
2. The letter to the Ephesians speaks of the way to goodness, justice, and truth. What is right, just, and true that needs to be strengthened in your life, your church, and in the larger community? What support do you need from others in this strengthening?
3. In this gospel Jesus challenged
established beliefs and systems. He opens the eyes of the people
to new ways of seeing and acting. Tell a story of an event or a relationship
that challenged you to look or act in a different way. What are some ways
we can build relationships in our community among people of different races,
ethnicity, economic status? How can we build a sense of belonging
to a world wide human community?
ACTIONS:
1. Journal on the pressures you
are experiencing in your life or experienced in the lives of those close
to you. Reflect on the ways established beliefs or social economic
systems contribute to these pressures.
2. Meet with someone in your parish
whom you do not know well and have a conversation about the pressures you
each are experiencing.
