QUESTIONS:
1. A prophet can speak God’s word
because the prophet first takes the time to listen. Where in your
world do you hear the voice of God? How well do you listen?
Do you make time for God to speak to you? Are you having conversations
that are deep enough to allow God to speak to you and through you?
How does our parish support this work?
2. In many places in the letters, Paul describes the people of God as the Body of Christ. Out parish is the embodiment of Christ in this time and place. How is our community like the Christ Paul describes in this hymn in Philippians? How are we not?
3. In his passion Jesus gathered
with him the many other bearers of the cross when he said to the women,
“Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me. Weep for yourselves
and for your children.” Who today are the children and their mothers
for whom we weep? The victims of AIDS? The dying children of
Iraq? Victims of injustice in the criminal justice system?
Who else? Can we help?
ACTIONS:
1. In your journal, write your own
psalm or hymn describing you relationship with God. Be as imaginative
or creative as you can be. Use this for your prayer this week.
2. Immerse yourself in the Triduum celebrations in your parish. Open yourself to the sounds and smells and sights and feelings that the celebrations encompass. (Don’t mention or think about the time involved.)
