QUESTIONS:
1. The Israelites, thirsty and discouraged
by the hardness of life in the desert, wonder if the Lord is in their midst
or not. Moses cries out to God for help. What pain or hardness
of life today needs to be voiced in a cry for help, I your own life or
the lives of those close to you? In your community? In the
larger world?
2. Paul in his letter says that hope does not disappoint us because love has been poured into the hearts. Name the signs of hope you see in your life, your church, your neighborhood, in the world.
3. Jesus promises living water to the woman from Samaria, crossing boundaries of what is considered socially acceptable. Tell a story of an experience of someone being excluded from the “well” (freedom, security, and basic human needs) that belongs to all. What are the economic, political, or social forces behind this story that contribute to this exclusion? What are some specific ways we as a community might address these forces of exclusion?
ACTION:
1. Notice how many advertising messages
you see or hear each day. Write down some of the messages that tell you
how to satisfy your “thirst” (that lure you to a different set of values
than those of the gospel).
2. Set up a 30 to 45 minute conversation with someone in the parish you would like to know better. Share some of your insights from this weeks faith sharing.
