QUESTIONS:
1. Moses was sent by God to free
the people of Israel from oppression in Egypt. How are the cries of oppressed
peoples being heard today? Who are the oppressors of our day?
In what ways might some accuse us of being oppressors?
2. Paul warns the people of Corinth not to be complacent in their security and power. Does the power and wealth of our country sometimes make us feel falsely secure? In what ways are we vulnerable to global trends? To what global issues might we need greater awareness?
3. Jesus called the people of his
time to reform their lives. To what extent are we in need of reform
like the people of Jesus’ day? What are some of the injustices
of which we are guilty?
ACTIONS:
1. Read through a daily newspaper
or weekly newsmagazine. Note or clip the articles which challenge your
sense of justice in the way people in power treat others.
2. Set up a 30-45 minute conversation
with someone about your experience of economic and political structures
which, in terms of our call to be people of justice, are in need
of reform?
