GUIDELINES FOR COORDINATORS OF SMALL FAITH COMMUNITIES
These guidelines are offered as a means of support and direction for the Parish Coordinators of Small Faith Communities.
Parishes need to ensure the continuation of the Coordinator and Core Community in order to keep the Small Faith Communities connected to the parish.
It is recommended that the Coordinator or a member of the Core Community be appointed as a liaison to, or as a member of, the Parish Pastoral Council.
The responsibilities of the Parish Coordinator of small faith communities are:
1. To keep open communication with the Pastor or designated
staff member and to meet with him/her on a regular basis to plan events and
to keep the staff informed as to how the small faith communities are progressing.
2. To meet with the Core Community at least six times a year for the purpose
of planning the continued organization and development of the small faith communities.
3. To know who the facilitators are and to meet with them as a group at least
twice a year.
4. To keep open communication with the facilitators throughout the year.
5. To encourage the facilitators to identify potential new facilitators within
their small community.
6. To know the frequency of each small faith community's meetings.
7. To know what materials are being used by each small faith community and to
keep the facilitators informed as new materials recommended by the Archdiocesan
Office of Evangelization become available.
8. To provide opportunities for sign-ups for new members on an ongoing basis
and to provide a well planned sign-up week-end at least once a year.
9. To communicate with the parish RCIA coordinator and to assist those new Catholics
who wish to join a small faith community.
10. To keep open communication with the Archdiocesan Office of Evangelization.
11. To attend the Coordinators' meetings scheduled by the Archdiocesan Office
Of Evangelization or to send a member of the parish Core Community to attend
those meetings.
12. To encourage all small faith community members, especially the facilitators,
to attend such Archdiocesan functions as the Religious Education Institute,
the Young Adult Ministry Conference-(if they are young adults), days of recollection
and workshops on Spiritual Development sponsored by the School of Pastoral Leadership,
and any other events that would foster spiritual development.
