Media Catalog Instruction Sheet
Media Catalog 2003 (v5.0)
CD Version
Please read this before running or installing Media Catalog 2003.
Browsers
Media Catalog 2003 was written in HTML and Javascript and should work
in Internet Explorer (3.0+) and Netscape Navigator (2.0+), plus some additional
browsers. It was tested in Microsoft Internet Explorer (5.5) and Netscape
Navigator (6.1). This disk should work for PC and Mac users. It also requires
Windows 3.x, or Windows95/98/NT/2000 for installation. Macintosh users
cannot use the installation or autorun feature, but can still access the
HTML files in the /mcat03 directory.
File
Directories
You should be aware of which operating system your computer uses for maximum
benefit of this catalog. All files are located in the /mcat03. The initial
file is /mcat03/index.htm. You should have approximately 44M of hard disk
space available to install this catalog directly onto your computer, but
it can be run directly from the CD. Ideally, this catalog should be placed
at the root level of your hard drive (i.e. C:\). The Setup and Installation
program will do this automatically.
Autorun
Media Catalog will run automatically when placed in the CD drive if Autorun
is enabled. Autorun automatically starts in the index.htm page. If Autorun
is not enabled or Media Catalog 2003 did not start automatically, start
the program from the index.htm file.
Versions
Operating
Options
This year, Media Catalog 2003 may be operated directly from the CD or
installed directly onto your hard drive. Please refer to the Setup page
(index.htm) for specific requirements.
Installation and Transferring Files
If you want to fully install Media Catalog 2003 onto your computer, select
Setup.exe. If you are using a Macintosh or do not want to use the installation
feature, you must copy the directories and files directly. The installation
process will automatically create desktop shortcut icons and Start Menu
shortcut icons that will take you directly to the catalog. This
method is the most preferred method of transferring files.
You do not have to use Setup to install Media Catalog 2003. If you decide
to do it manually, you can copy files directly from the /mcat03 directory
directory onto your hard drive. To do this, open the "Start" button on
the bottom left hand corner of your desktop, select "Explore", select
the drive where you want to the files transferred to. Right click your
mouse, select "new", and then "folder" and change the name from "New Folder"
to "Media Catalog_2003" or something similar. Select your CD drive, select
the appropriate directory, and copy all files and directories from the
CD to your new folder. This can also be achieved through "My Computer"
following the same steps as outlined above.
Setup will not work on Macintosh systems.
Media catalog can be run directly form the CD by placing the CD in the
CD drive (or clicking on the CD drive in Windows Explorer if you have
had it already open) and allowing it to automatically start (if enabled).
If Media Catalog 2003 does not start automatically, select index.htm and
follow directions.
You can also access Media Catalog 2003 from the /mcat directory by selecting
the /mcat03/index.htm file.

Text Files:
Media Catalog 2003 has catalog files in .txt (text) format if your computer

files can also be accessed from the catalog. The text files are located
in /mcat03/textfile. Text files can also be accessed from the Utilities
Page. If you open a txt file from the CD, it should open in an appropriate
viewer and can be copied onto your hard drive.
Search Pages
Media Catalog 2003 employs Javascript to conduct video searches. You will
need to have Javascript installed and enabled for this to work properly.
This is standard for most current browsers (both Netscape and Explorer).
Even so, Media Catalog will operate satisfactorily in non-Javascript-enabled
browsers. Searches can still be conducted by the Browser (usually Control-F)
or manually if you do not have a Javascript-enabled browser.
Medai Catalog 2003 is equipped with electronic form service for ordering
materials or registration; however, javascript must be enabled for these
forms to work and your email application must be properly configured for
the email function to work. See your systems administrator for assistance
with email or javascript enabling.
A 3.5 floppy disk is also available if you do not have access to a CD
player.
Thank you. We hope you find Media Catalog 2003 helpful. If you have any
