PRINCIPAL SELECTED FOR REGIS
Robert Mizia, Superintendent of Catholic Schools, announced the appointment
of
Mr. Anthony Guevara as principal of Regis
High School in Stayton, effective July 1,
2001. Mr. Guevara has served as a Vice-Principal
at Moreau Catholic High School in
Hayward, CA since 1993. Mizia noted "Tony
brings a wealth of knowledge and
experience to this new assignment as he
has served in Catholic education for many
years."
Guevara graduated from Humboldt State University in 1980 with a Bachelor
of
Arts degree in Physical Education, and
received his California Teaching Credential from
there in 1981. He earned a Master of Arts
degree in Education and Preliminary
Administrative Services Credential from
the University of San Francisco. He completed
the requirements for the Professional
Administrative Service Credential (tier 2) from
California State University, Hayward.
While at Moreau Catholic High School his duties have included teacher
supervision, student welfare, campus supervision,
community outreach, public and
media relations and oversight of the athletic
program. He was also involved in the
campus ministry program. He previously
taught at Cardinal Newman High School and
at St. Mary's College.
Mr. Mizia thanked the members of the search committee for their conscientious
and dedicated work in the selection process.
Search committee members included
Brother William Campbell, SM, Assistant
Superintendent for Personnel and Technology,
and members of the community, Father Arthur
Dernbach, Pastor at St. Boniface parish in
Sublimity, Steve McGrew, Steve Heli, Bill
Lulay, Tom Fessler, Katie Jaeger and Lucy Shindler.
