ADULT EDUCATION & CATECHIST FORMATION PLANNED

        The Archdiocesan Office of Religious Education has announced the dates for the
fall Adult Education / Catechist Formation courses. The courses are designed for
general adult education as well as being part of the Catechist Formation program. This
fall classes will be offered in Portland at St. Clare parish, in Salem at St. Joseph parish,
at St. Paul parish in Eugene and at Sacred Heart parish in Medford.

The Archdiocesan Adult Education / Catechist Formation Program is designed to
help parishes:

* recognize the importance of ongoing adult formation and education in faith

* respond to the National Catechetical Directory (NCD) calling catechists to "acquire the
  knowledge, skills and abilities needed to communicated the gospel message
  effectively." (#211)

* provide support and confidence for those in the ministry of catechesis.

        Classes to be offered at St. Clare parish in Portland are:
September 8th, Scripture, Presenter: Nancy Diaz
September 15, Faith and Moral Development, Presenter: Cathy Shannon
September 22, Who is Jesus?, Presenter: Claire Meyer

        Courses to be offered at St. Joseph parish in Salem are:
September 8th, Who is Jesus?, Presenter: Natalie Horning-Edgar
September 15, Scripture, Presenter: Mary Sharon Moore
September 22, Faith and Moral Development, Presenter: Cathy Shannon

Classes being offered at St. Paul parish in Eugene are:
September 8th, Faith and Moral Development, Presenter: Kathy Sniezko
September 15, Scripture, Presenter: Marie Bricher
September 22, Who is Jesus?, Presenter: Natalie Horning-Edgar

Courses to be held at Sacred Heart parish in Medford are:
September 15, What is Catechesis?, Presenter: Connie Moyer
October 6, Scripture, Presenter: Ron Horbatiuk
December 1st, Who is Jesus?, Presenter: Claire Meyer

        The cost of the classes is $10 per person per class. Classes will run from 8:00
a.m. until 5:00 p.m., with an hour lunch. For Registration form, please contact the
