MARRIAGE PREPARATION TALKS

        The Archdiocesan Office of Marriage and Family Life is sponsoring two
presentations on marriage preparation and natural family planning by Christopher West.
The presentations will be given on Saturday, April 21 at St. John the Baptist Church,
Milwaukie.

        Christopher West is the Director of Marriage and Family Life Office for the
Archdiocese of Denver. He is an internationally known speaker and expert on the
Church's teaching of human sexuality and marriage. Mr. West speaks frequently on the
topic of Pope John Paul's "Theology of the Body." He is a visiting professor of theology
at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute in Melbourne, Australia. He is married and the
father of two sons.

        Mr. West's first presentation will consider integrating the "theology of the body"
into marriage preparation and natural family planning training. Marriage preparation
providers and natural family planning teachers are invited to attend. The workshop is
free to those working in these ministries. This presentation is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
to 11:30 a.m. Please register by calling the Archdiocese of Portland's Marriage and
Family Ministry Office 503-233-8319. Please register by April 19.

        The second presentation by Mr. West will be "Sharing the Good News about Sex
and Marriage." In this presentation West will present material from his book, Good
News about Sex and Marriage: Answers to Your Honest Questions about
Catholic Teaching. The general public is invited to this presentation, and it will be
held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The cost is $5.00. Call the Archdiocesan office by April 17
