ARCHDIOCESE HOSTS WORKSHOP ON HISPANIC LITURGY
The Archdiocese will host a workshop "Hispanic Cultural Nuances in
Liturgy" on November 14 and 15, 2001.
The workshop is for all Pastors, Hispanic
ministry pastoral assistants, and all
those who are interested in learning about and
getting the flavor of Hispanic nuances
in liturgy. The workshop will help participants
better understand their culture, traditions
and how they celebrate. The presenter of the
workshop will be Reverend Arturo Perez
Rodriguez, a Mexican American priest from the
Archdiocese of Chicago.
The workshop on November 14th will be in Spanish for Hispanic Ministry
pastoral
assistants, coordinators, Hispanic priests
and volunteers. It will be held at the
Archdiocesan Pastoral Center from 10:00
am until 4:00 pm. On Thursday, November
15, the workshop will be in English and
will be held at St. Mary's Cathedral from 10:00
am until 4:00 pm. The second workshop
will be for Pastors, directors of religious
education, and all others who may in interested
in learning more about Hispanic
nuances in liturgy.
Father Arturo Perez Rodriguez has served as associate pastor and pastor
of
bicultural Hispanic parishes, and is currently
working in a ministerial team that is in
charge of two communities in Chicago:
St. George and St. Francis de Sales. He is a co-
founder of Casa Jesus, a house of vocational
discernment for Hispanic men considering
the priesthood. He received a Master of
Divinity degree from St. Mary of the Lake
Seminary and a Master of Arts degree from
Notre Dame University with studies at the
Instituto Superior de Pastoral, Universidad
de Salamanca, Spain.
The workshop is sponsored by the Archdiocesan Office for Hispanic Ministry
and
the Office of Continuing Education for
Clergy. The fee for the workshop is $7.00, which
includes lunch. Registration should be
