NEWMAN FOUNDATION BREAKS NEW GROUND

Groundbreaking and blessing of the site for the new Newman Center (2111 N.W.
Monroe) in Corvallis will take place on Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at 3:00 p.m.
Archbishop John G. Vlazny, Archdiocese of Portland, will bless the ground initiating the
start of the building project. Also participating will be Father Michael Maslowsky,
Director of the Pastoral Services department and the Housing Office for the Archdiocese
of Portland. The purpose of the project is to give the Oregon State University Newman
Center a new and larger facility. The Newman Center provides spiritual guidance and
fellowship for OSU students.

The new Newman Center will be known as Trinity Court. It will consist of one
new structure and the remodeling of two existing buildings. A landscaped courtyard
will join the three buildings and include a space for meditation. The site encompasses
nearly one acre, and is located across the street from the Oregon State University
campus.

The new structure will be 22,300 square feet with a partially excavated
parking garage. The main floor of the new structure will include the new Newman
Chapel, a kitchen and a gathering space. The remainder of the first floor and the upper
second level will consist of 16 one-bedroom housing units. The two remodeled buildings
will include study rooms and counseling spaces, and one building will include a coffee
shop/deli and a bookstore.

The facility will near completion in late March or April 2002.
