RESERVE SPACE NOW FOR WORLD YOUTH DAY
Young adults, youth and their chaperons planning to attend World Youth
Day
2002 in Toronto, Canada need to register
with their local Catholic parish or Campus
Ministry Newman Center by November 12,
2001. Youth and young adults should
contact their Catholic parish youth minister
or Newman Center campus minister for a
registration form and details. Registrations
will be accepted on a first come basis, as
there are a limited number of spots available.
World Youth Day brings together Catholic youth from around the world to
celebrate their faith. Pope John Paul
II has invited the youth and young adults of the
world to join him in Toronto from Saturday,
July 20 through Tuesday, July 30, 2002.
Invited to attend are those 16 to 35 years
old and their chaperons (for those 16 - 18
years old and still in high school).
The cost will be $1200 per person. The initial and non-refundable deposit
of
$100 is due by November 12, 2001. Roundtrip
airfare between Portland and Toronto
will be provided. While in Toronto participants
will use World Youth Day and public
-ground-transportation. Participants will
be lodged in World Youth Day housing in local
schools.
Participation is encouraged from all cultural and ethnic groups and those
with
special needs. Local parish and Newman
Center leaders are invited to help with
recruitment, language and guidance to
help ensure an inclusive and meaningful
experience for all youth and young adult
pilgrims to World Youth Day.
