ASSUMPTION VILLAGE TO BE DEDICATED
Archbishop John G. Vlazny will dedicate Assumption Village, a housing project
for senior adults, on Thursday, May 16th
beginning at 12:00 noon. The dedication
ceremonies will be held at Assumption
Chapel (9121 N. Burr, Portland). Assumption
Chapel is adjacent to the project site.
The chapel is owned and operated by the
Archdiocese of Portland.
Assumption Village is built on a 3.33 acre site where the former Assumption
Parish was located. The project consists
of an Assisted Living Facility in one building
with 79 studio and one-bedroom apartments,
and two other buildings designated as
Independent Senior Apartments comprised
of 30 units of one and two bedroom
apartments. Eighty-nine of the apartments
are designated low-income and 20 units will
be market rate. The project is developed
with the buildings oriented toward an
expansive "village park" with ample gathering
spaces for the residents. The architect for
the project is Ankrom Moisan Associated
Architects. Walsh Construction Company is
the general contractor.
The amenities at Assumption Village include dining facilities, community
gathering rooms, activity rooms with kitchens,
laundry facilities, and a Jacuzzi tub room.
Each assisted living unit will include
handicapped accessible bathrooms, a small
refrigerator, microwave and closet spaces.
Independent Senior apartments consist of
private one and two bedroom units with
full kitchen and bathroom. All units will be wired
with voice-to-voice emergency calls systems.
Assumption Village is owned by Village Enterprises, which also owns St.
Anthony
Village in southeast Portland. Assumption
Village will be operated by Services for All
Generations Enterprises, Inc. (SAGE).
SAGE is an Oregon nonprofit corporation, which
currently manages the day-to-day operations
at St. Anthony Village. Deacon Robert
Lukosh will be the administrator for Assumption
Village. Village Enterprises Board
members include: Gene DiLoreto, Del Smith,
Maura O'Scannlain, Bryan Johnston, Karl
Smith, Brian Shaffer, Nick Stanley and
Father Michael Maslowsky.
