Los Embajadores Program receives grant

        The Los Embajadores program has received a grant from the National
Foundation for Catholic Youth for $1250. The grant was given for youth leadership
training. The money will be used to train new Los Embajadores program leaders and
their support leaders. The grant will be used for training administration, transportation,
production of manuals for the instruction of adult leaders, and journals to assist the
leaders in daily spiritual reflections with their youth group.

        Each year between five and ten groups of youth from the Archdiocese of
Portland participate in this program with as many as 250 local area youth traveling to
Mexico to live and work in community with the Mexican people. Overall the program
supports up to 19 groups from all over the west coast of the U.S. and Canada.

        In addition to this training grant, the Archdiocese of Portland supports this
incredible youth experience with a yearly grant of $8,000 from the Archbishop's Catholic
Appeal.
