Collection for the Catholic Communication Campaign

Parishes in the Archdiocese of Portland will take up the collection for the Catholic
Communication Campaign on the weekend of January 11 and 12. The Catholic
Communication Campaign supports the Church's efforts to proclaim the Good News
using television, radio, videotape, print and Internet resources. The theme for this
year's collection is "Share a life of love and peace. Spread the Good News."

The Catholic Communication Campaign has produced and distributed public
service announcement series in Spanish and English for radio and television stations
and networks. Another project of the Catholic Communication Campaign is the weekly
program Catholic Radio Weekly. It is heard in the Portland area on KBVM on Sunday
afternoons, and is available anytime on the Internet at the web site for the United States
Conference of Catholic Bishops www.usccb.org/ccc/catholicradio.htm. Movie Reviews
is another popular service of the Catholic Communication Campaign providing
moviegoers an objective review of current movies. It is popular with parents trying to
find good information on a film before their children see it. Movie Reviews is available
at the USCCB web site www.usccb.org/movies. Vacationing families and individuals
will find the Mass Times web site, supported by the CCC, is another valuable service.
The Mass Times website provides information about parishes around the United States.
Mass Times can be found on the Internet at www.masstimes.org.

The Archdiocese of Portland's web site includes a Calendar of Archdiocesan
events, the latest news releases, information on past historical events, brief biographies
of the Archbishops of Portland, information on various programs and ministries in the
Archdiocese, as well as links to parishes, schools, Religious Orders and information on
many other Catholic organizations in western Oregon.

The Archdiocese of Portland places television programming on public access
cable channels, where available. The award-winning program Christopher Closeup is
currently aired on Portland cable access channels on Sundays at 7:30 p.m. (channel
22), and on Saturdays at 12:00 noon (channel 23). Christopher Closeup also airs in the
Corvallis and Albany area on cable channel 99.

Funds collected for the Catholic Communication Campaign are split between the
local diocese and the national Communications Campaign. Catholics of the
Archdiocese are encouraged to be as generous as possible in supporting this vitally
important ministry of the Church. The "Catholic Communication Campaign is how the
Good News gets around."
