INNER PEACE RETREAT WILL FOCUS ON "SACRED WATERSHEDS"

The annual Inner Peace Retreat is scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2002. It
will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Agatha Hall, Queen of Angels Monastery, in
Mount Angel (840 S. Main Street). This year Sister Pat Lupo, OSB, will lead the retreat.
The theme for the retreat is "Sacred Watersheds: Life Giving Reflections and Actions."
The day will include small group conversations, experiential activities, ritual and prayer.

Sister Pat Lupo, OSB is Community Vice President for Glinodo Earth Force and
the Eco-Justice Director for Glinodo Center. She has been involved in environmental
and conservation issues for over 35 years. Sister Pat earned a Master of Arts degree in
Science Education at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She taught at the elementary
and high school levels for more than 20 years.

Sister Pat became involved with the development of Eco-Justice Programs at
Glinodo Center in Erie, PA. These programs affirm the bonds among people and
between people and the earth. These programs urge people to protect the community
of water, land and all living forms on earth as well as the rights of individuals. The eco-
Justice Programs stress action to change local reality as well as to affect global
conditions.

In 1998 Sister Pat became the vice president for Earth Force, a nonprofit
organization that encourages the involvement of young people in developing life-long
habits of active citizenship and environmental stewardship. In November, the Glinodo
Earth Force was recognized by the World Wildlife Fund and the Alliance of Religions and
Conservation as a "Sacred Gift for a Living Planet."

The annual Inner Peace Retreat is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Portland's
Office of Justice and Peace, Queen of Angels Monastery, and the Shalom Prayer Center.
The cost is $12 per person, or $9 per person in groups of three or more. The cost
includes hospitality and lunch. For directions to Queen of Angels Monastery call 503-
