CATHOLIC PARENTING FAIR PLANNED

        The Archdiocesan Office for Marriage and Family Life is pleased to announce
that a Catholic Parenting Fair will be held on Saturday, September 21 at La Salle
Catholic High School (11199 SE Fuller Road) in Milwaukie. The day will run from 9:00
am to 3:00 pm. The featured speaker will be Dr. Ray Guarendi.

        Dr. Ray Guarendi's topic will be "You're a better parent than you think." Dr.
Guarendi is a Catholic psychologist and the father of ten adopted children. He helps
parents understand the many challenges of parenting today. With a mix of humor,
practical insight, and sincere faith, he helps parents with children of all ages to see their
strengths and work on their weaknesses. His advice makes sense, and parents around
the country have benefited from his expertise.

        There will also be two sessions with presentations by local speakers on a variety of
parenting issues. Topics include:

1. Parenting and chastity education, Northwest Family Services
2. Balancing parenting and care-giving older adults, Ruth Hayes-Barba
3. Parenting your disabled child, Dorothy Coughlin
4. Stepfamilies---pitfalls and possibilities, Sr. Sara Deeby
5. Living simply in a complex world, Mary Sharon Moore
6. The Catholic home and faith formation, Fr. John Cihak
7. Parenting after separation and divorce, Mary Eagle
8. Ending the power struggle with your teen, Lew Schoenburg
9. Advocating for smart TV/video viewing practices, Rachel Ozretich

        The cost for the day is $10 per person, and includes a boxed lunch. There is limited
space available. Registration is due by September 13th. For registration information
