Friends in Faith Training Workshops

The Archdiocesan Office for Youth and Young Adult Ministry is pleased to
announce a series of training workshops for adult facilitators who work with small
groups of high school aged young people. The workshops will be held in three locations
around the Archdiocese in September.

The "Friends in Faith Model" is a model for gathering high school aged youth on
a weekly or bi-weekly basis for faith formation. It is a model widely used around the
U.S. by Catholic youth ministers and has a high level of success. The model is based
upon several of the Components of Youth Ministry presented in the U.S. Bishops
Pastoral Plan for Youth Ministry titled "Renewing the Vision." It is also based upon one
of the most successful and oldest methods of faith formation known as Shared Christian
Praxis. It is hoped that these workshops will provide the foundational training for
Friends in Faith Group Leaders, as well as establishing some "informal" support
networks for facilitators from parishes around the Archdiocese.

Randy H. Kollars, Director of the Archdiocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult
Ministry will give the workshops. Randy has provided this valuable training for parishes
and dioceses around the country for the past 14 years.

The Schedule of Workshops is:

Grants Pass – St. Anne Parish:
Sunday September 22 1:00 – 5:30 pm (Sessions One and Two) and Monday,
September 23, 7 – 9 p.m. (Session Three)
Cost is $5 for one or all sessions.

Portland - Archdiocesan Pastoral Center:
Thursday, September 5, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. (Session One)
Tuesday, September 10, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. (Session Two)
Tuesday, September 17, 700 – 9:00 p.m. (Session Three)
Cost is $5 for one or all sessions

Eugene – St. Jude Parish:
Saturday, September 14, 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
All Three sessions
Cost is $10 and includes lunch.
