ARCHDIOCESE PREPARES FOR THE 2002 PASTORAL MINISTRY CONFERENCE

        The Archdiocese of Portland is preparing for the 2002 Pastoral Ministry
Conference. The theme for this year's conference will be "Living the Gospel - Sharing
the Gifts: Collaborative Ministry in the New Millennium." The Pastoral Ministry
Conference will be held April 23 & 24th at the Holiday Inn Select, Wilsonville, OR (25425
SW 95th Avenue, Wilsonville). Keynote speaker will be Bishop Remi J. De Roo, STD,
and the workshop presenter will be Patricia M. Kelly, Ph.D. Archbishop John G. Vlazny
will celebrate the closing liturgy.

        Bishop Remi J. De Roo, STD, was born and raised in Swan Lake, Manitoba. He
was ordained a priest in 1950, and received his doctorate in theology from the
Angelicum University in Rome in 1952. He became the Bishop of Victoria, Canada in
1962, and was the youngest Bishop at the Second Vatican Council. The council's
inspired vision of the Church has shaped his ministry and remained his passion
throughout the years.

        Patricia Kelly is a licensed psychologist, who holds a doctorate degree in Clinical
Developmental Psychology, and a Masters in Education Psychology from Bryn Mawr
College, Bryn Mawr, PA. Dr. Kelly is the Director of professional practice, Kelly
Counseling & Consulting, a firm that provides a full range of consultation, assessment
and counseling services to value based organizations and the individuals that work with
them. Dr. Kelly is a frequent presenter at clergy and educational conferences and is a
member of the National Pastoral Life Center's Beginning a Pastorate faculty. She works
extensively with religious communities, dioceses, schools, parishes and other
organizations in the areas of leadership development, strategic planning and the
integration of collaboration as a model of ministry and administration. Dr. Kelly and her
husband reside in West Chester, PA.

        Conference registration deadline is April 17, 2002. Registration is $59 per
person. Registration fee includes dinner, continental breakfast and lunch. Registration
