PARENTING FOR PEACE AND JUSTICE FAMILY CAMP
The twelfth annual Parenting for Peace and Justice Family Camp will begin on
the evening of Thursday, June 27 and continue until Sunday, June 30th. The camp will
be held at the Aldersgate Conference Center in Turner, OR. The theme for this year's
camp is "Freedom songs: the power of music in our lives." The Parenting for Peace and
Justice Family Camp nurtures and empowers families for a little more justice and peace
in one's heart and in the structures of society.

Julianne Johnson will lead the workshop on Friday "Freedom Songs." Julianne
Johnson is a vocalist and dramatist and will bring her passion for music to the program.
Ms. Johnson has been a Gospel Choir Director in the Archdiocese of Portland and a
creative dramatics workshop director. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree
from the University of Portland, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of
Washington. Ms. Johnson will be accompanied by Michael Harrison. Mr. Harrison is a
producer, composer, arranger and concert pianist.

        O. B. Hill will lead the workshop on Saturday. The workshop will consider the
"power of music in our lives." O. B. Hill is co-owner of Portland's Reflections Books and
Coffee House. He brings a real knowledge of African American experiences in literature
and movements for freedom, justice and peace.

The Parenting for Peace and Justice Family Camp offers childcare for children
under the age of three years old during the workshop sessions. Children aged three to
six years old spend creative time in their own camp activities during the workshop
sessions, while children aged seven and older are invited to participate in the main
sessions with their parents. Accommodations are cabins furnished with one double bed
and bunk-style or single beds. Campers should bring their own bedding or sleeping
bags, pillows, towels and toiletries.

The cost of the camp for ages 19 and older is $90 each, ages 12 – 18 years $50
each, ages 2 – 11 $40 each, and infants through age 1 year old are free. In cases of
economic need, some scholarship funds are available. Early registration is strongly
encouraged due to limited space. For registration forms or further information, contract
