Third Annual Catholic Parenting Fair
The Marriage, Family Life and Aging Ministry Office is pleased to announce the third annual Parenting Fair will be held Saturday, September 18 at LaSalle High School (11199 SE Fuller Road, Milwaukie). The Parenting Fair includes keynote lectures, workshops, exhibitors, and networking opportunities. The theme for this year’s fair is Developing Kids with Character. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Coleen Kelly Mast.
Dr. Coleen Kelly Mast, an author, lecturer and radio talk show host, was a pioneer in the field of chastity education. Mast holds an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from Quincy University, a Masters Degree in Health Education, and Secondary teaching certificates in four specialty fields: Theology, Health, Physical Education and Science. She has taught at the elementary, junior high and high school levels, and has been involved in Family Life Education since 1975. Mast has written both the “Love and Life” and “Sex Respect” chastity education programs, which include books and videos for teachers, teens and parents.
She assisted with the writing of the USCC Bishops document on Human Sexuality Education; and in 1997, Mast was invited to the Vatican by the Pontifical Council for the Family for an in-depth study of “Truth and Meaning of Human Sexuality” Document when it was released. She has been married for 30 years to Kent Mast and they have five children ranging from ages 12-28.

* Single Parenting “Going it Alone,” Sister Sarah Deeby, OSM
* Parenting Through the Hot Moments, Sharon Silver
* Creative Ideas for Building Your Domestic Church, Ruth and Charlie Rost
* Catholic Family Money Management: Building for Your Children’s Future, Christine Over
The cost is $15 per person, and includes continental breakfast, boxed lunch and admission to keynote talks and afternoon workshops. Deadline for registration is September 9, 2004. Registration at the door will be $20 per person. Childcare is an additional charge. To participate in the on-site childcare, children must be toilet-trained.
