Candlelight vigil for children who have died

A candlelight vigil for all children who have died will be held on Sunday, December 12, at St. Rose of Lima Church in the courtyard, 2727 NE 54th Ave, in Portland. The vigil will take place from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. It is suggested that families attending vigil bring a picture or memento of the child. Candles will be provided. The vigil will include candle lighting, scripture reading, a litany of remembrance and a blessing of the families.

Each year on the second Sunday in December, the Compassionate Friends International network sponsors a candlelight vigil in loving memory of all children who have died. As a pastoral support for families, the Archdiocese of Portland’s Office for People with Disabilities and the Office for Marriage, Family Life and Aging and the St. Rose of Lima Chapter of Elizabeth Ministry will sponsor this candlelight vigil.
Participants are encouraged to dress warmly. For information about other candlelight vigils in Oregon visit www.compassionatefriends.org.
