Catechist Days of Prayer Scheduled

The Archdiocesan Office of Religious Education has scheduled the annual
Catechist Day of Prayer. There will be two opportunities for catechists to participate in
the day of prayer. In the Portland area the day of prayer will be held on February 7,
from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Shalom Prayer Center, Mt. Angel. A day of prayer
has also been scheduled for Medford at Sacred Heart Church on March 6, 9:30 a.m. –
4:00 p.m. The Catechist Day of Prayer provides an opportunity to "get away, pray and
slow down" in order to reflect on the individual's relationship with God and the role of the
catechist in the Catholic Church.

Father Rick Walsh, CSP, will lead the reflection in Mt. Angel. Father Walsh is a
native of the Boston area, and has served in Paulist parishes in Austin, Texas and
Knoxville, Tennessee. In his retreat presentations, Father Rick draws from his diverse
experiences as a priest including teaching, chairing ecumenical organizations, working
as a school chaplain and ministering to persons living with AIDS.

Brother Jeff Macnab, OFM, will direct the Medford day of prayer. Brother Jeff is
a native Oregonian, and a Franciscan of the West Coast Province of Santa Barbara.
He has been in religious life for 26 years. His primary areas of work have been in high
school education, youth ministry, liturgy, music and formation. For the past few years,
Brother Jeff has been doing parish missions, retreats and spiritual direction around the
Pacific Northwest.

Registration forms may be obtained from the Office of Religious Education web
page: www.archdpdx.org/religious-education/ and from the Archdiocesan Office of
Religious Education, 2838 E. Burnside St. Portland, OR 97214, 503-233-8304. The
cost of the retreat is $30 and includes lunch.
