Effective Practices for Dynamic Youth Ministry

The Archdiocesan Youth and Young Adult Ministry Office is announcing that the
training workshop "Effective Practices for Dynamic Youth Ministry" will be presented in
Portland and Eugene. The training will be held in Portland on Friday, April 30 at the
Archdiocesan Pastoral Center, and will be repeated in Eugene on Saturday, May 1 at
St. Paul Parish. The workshop will run from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. both days.

The "Effective Practices" workshop will present data from an extensive two-year
national research project that studied effective practices in Catholic youth ministry. The
study included interviews and surveys of over 400 youth and adults from the most
effective parishes in the United States, as well as input and analysis from a national
symposium of youth ministry leaders. If parish leadership and youth ministry teams ask
the questions, "What if I could find out the secrets of successful youth ministry programs
from around the country? What if I could glean the wisdom of knowledge of the
country's best Coordinators of Youth Ministry?" The "Effective Practices" workshop will
help provide them the answers.

The workshop is sponsored by the Center for Ministry Development and Saint
Mary's Press. The workshop is designed for parish leaders including pastors, youth
ministry leaders, religious education coordinators and others interested in developing
dynamic parish ministry with youth. Parishes that are starting in youth ministry will find
helpful guidance for beginning a comprehensive youth ministry. Parishes that would
like to grow their current efforts will find new ways to reach you and strengthen the
relationship between the parish community and its young members.

The cost of the workshop, which is partially subsidized by a grant from the
Raskob Foundation, is $25. Registration fee includes light morning snacks, workshop
materials and a copy of the book Effective Practices for Dynamic Youth Ministry.
