POPE JOHN PAUL CELEBRATES THE VALUE OF EVERY LIFE
In celebration of World Day of the Sick, Pope John Paul gathered this month with people who are sick, elderly, and those with disabilities at a Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica. He reaffirmed the lives of all present, saying that sickness and disability offers Christians the opportunity to show the world that the value of human life endures even in times of difficulty. Pope John Paul told those present that believers who prayerfully accept their sufferings in the mystery of God’s plan make a valuable spiritual contribution to the church. He prayed that God would lighten the physical and spiritual suffering of all who live with illness or disability and help them unite their suffering to Christ’s.
