There are two ways to apply for teaching positions in the elementary schools of the Archdiocese of Portland:
- By contacting the principal directly for information regarding teaching
vacancies;
- By submitting an application to the Department of Catholic Schools.
While the Department of Catholic Schools does keep teaching application files for schools in the Archdiocese, it is left to the principal at each site to review the list of candidates that that s/he wants to interview. Once you have returned your completed application to the Department of Catholic Schools, your name is added to the list of available applicants.
While all teachers of Religion must be Catholic, it is recognized that teachers of other faiths can make valuable contributions as members of the teaching staff. These teachers should be employed on the condition that they understand and are fully committed to the distinctive purpose and spirit of Catholic education.
Beginning in mid-March and continuing through the summer months, announcements of position openings are published by this office, however, the best place to find out about current opening is to check this page regularly.
