Application Process

To apply for a specific position listed below, you should follow the directions in the posting or contact the principal directly for information regarding the vacancy. 

While all teachers of Religion must be Catholic, it is recognized that teachers of other faiths can make valuable contributions as members of the teaching staff.  These teachers should be employed on the condition that they understand and are fully committed to the distinctive purpose and spirit of Catholic education.

Beginning in mid-March and continuing through the summer months, announcements of position openings are published on this webpage. Please check frequently for updates!

To be placed in the substitute applicant pool

Applicants who hold valid current Oregon Teaching Licenses or who are in the process of receiving such licenses are eligible for teaching positions in the Archdiocese of Portland.  Applicants who have an out-of-of-state teaching license may submit an application; however, they must be in contact with Teacher Standards and Practices Commission about the requirements for an Oregon License.

*Applicants for our substitute pool also need to fill out the attached Education Provider Employer List and submit Disclosure Release Forms for all current and former education provider employers.

**Substitute teachers must complete Called to Protect training. See the Child Protection Office website at http://www.archdpdx.org/cpo/schedule.html  for schedule of training sessions. Please register for one of the classes titled “Called to Protect for Parents and Ministries”.  A copy of your participation certificate should be sent to me.

Assists the classroom teacher in the implementation of the school's program of activities, helping the teacher ensure that students' individual needs are being met.

Assumes responsibility for assisting with the orderly and efficient operation of the classroom, playground, and other areas as designated. Additional responsibilities such as recess/playground duty may be assigned by the supervisor.

Performs activities assigned by and under the supervision of the classroom teacher and/or principal. May perform the activities without direct, personal supervision of the teacher but shall not initiate instruction without direction from the teacher. Instructional duties may include reading with children, assisting with one-on-one work, small group work, and/or make up work.

Assists with the administration of assessments.

Occasionally assists in the individual students from grades other than 3rd and 5th.

Participates in the planning of program activities when possible and appropriate.

Assists with the preparation of materials and supplies necessary to implement activities. Clerical functions may include typing, duplicating, recordkeeping, filing, and office support.

Assists with activities according to the program schedule.

Assists in the cleaning and maintenance of the classroom facilities.

Assists with any other program-related activities as delegated by the Teacher of Principal.

Supervises the cafeteria 5 days a week for 50 minutes each day. Monitors students, maintains order, implements procedures, and creates new ones as necessary, and assists students with questions and problems. An opportunity to know every child in the school!

Demonstrates a positive and caring attitude with administrators, staff, students, and parents.

Maintains a strict level of confidentiality.

Demonstrates flexibility, creativity, and a collaborative spirit.

St. Joseph School is a parish ministry that teaches the faith, traditions, and culture of the Catholic Church as a cornerstone of a solid academic foundation and virtuous character formation. This position is for a part time music teacher. The schedule can be somewhat flexible based on applicant availability. This teacher will teach class 1-2 times per week based on the Archdiocesan music standards. This teacher will be responsible for classroom management, grading, parent communication, and organizing and executing a Christmas and Spring program.

St. Francis Parish and School in Sherwood, OR seeks a highly organized and self-motivated professional to serve as a full time Development Director. The Development Director is responsible for managing and implementing a comprehensive program which includes annual events, endowment, planned giving, and capital campaigns.

The Development Director, as a representative of the parish and school, must possess the ability to build genuine relationships on behalf of St. Francis and be an effective communicator who can clearly articulate the vision and goals of the parish and school and be a team player who leads others towards a shared purpose.

Qualifications:
Demonstrate computer proficiency with common business programs (e.g., MS Office) with the ability to master gift planning software such as Crescendo or PG CALC.

Hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in communications, finance, and/or marketing or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a comparable field.

Have 5 to 8 years of experience in a development position within a complex multi-unit organization (preferably non-profit) with service organization preferred.

Have specific knowledge of Catholic Church organization and procedures; practicing Catholic required.
