Application Process

TO:  Applicants for Teaching Positions
RE:  Teaching Application Process

The most efficient way to apply for teaching positions in the secondary schools of the Archdiocese of Portland is to contact the school directly for information regarding specific teaching vacancies.

While the Department of Catholic Schools does keep secondary teaching application files in the Archdiocese, it is left to the principal at each site to review the list of candidates that that s/he wants to interview.  Once you have returned your completed application to the Department of Catholic Schools, your name is added to the list of available applicants.   Only the Archdiocesan secondary schools (Central Catholic, Regis High School, and Marist High School) use the Archdiocesan application form, therefore, if you are interested in positions at non-Archdiocesan schools, you will need to contact them directly for information and application forms.

While all teachers of Religion must be Catholic, it is recognized that teachers of other faiths can make valuable contributions as members of the teaching staff.  These teachers should be employed on the condition that they understand and are fully committed to the distinctive purpose and spirit of Catholic education.

Beginning in mid-March and continuing through the summer months, announcements of position openings are published by this office, however, the best place to find out about current opening is to check this page regularly.
